When most people think of a fitness instructor, they picture someone with a "perfect" physique—super lean, toned muscles, always at peak performance. But here's the thing: I don’t fit that image. And you know what? I’m proud of that.
My own fitness journey has been full of ups and downs. I've been 15+ stone, and I’ve been 8 stone. I've experienced all the sizes in between, and even when I was at my thinnest, I didn’t feel happy. In fact, I often thought I was still overweight. What I’ve discovered is that true fitness isn’t about reaching a certain look or a specific number on the scale.
Redefining What a Fitness Professional Looks Like
The fitness industry tends to uphold a single, often unrealistic standard of what a fitness instructor "should" look like. But I’ve learned firsthand that health and wellness are not about fitting into a mold. My journey has taught me that: Real fitness is about feeling good in your own skin.
It's about building a resilient body and mind, not achieving a specific look.
Fitness can be empowering at any shape, size, or age.
Yes, I have days when my old habits of self-criticism resurface. There are times when I wish I looked a certain way. But now, I have tools and practices that help me manage those thoughts. The difference is, I no longer let them define me. My focus is on feeling energised, confident, and strong—both inside and out.
Why I Don’t Make Weight Loss the Main Goal
Could I build my business around weight loss? Sure. But that wouldn’t be true to who I am or what I stand for. I’ve been on that roller coaster, and it’s not a ride I’m interested in anymore.
Here’s what I focus on instead:
Mobility: I prioritise functional movement so that I can stay pain-free, flexible, and agile—no matter my age.
Strength: I train for strength, because it supports a functional, injury-free body that can handle the demands of everyday life.
Mental Health: For me, mental well-being is just as important as physical health. I understand how transformative movement can be for managing stress, anxiety, and overall mental clarity.
Weight loss might happen as a byproduct of my holistic approach, but it's not the focus. Instead, I want my clients to develop a positive relationship with their bodies—one that's based on feeling good, moving well, and living fully.
Health is More Than a Number on the Scale
The shift to a holistic view of fitness has changed everything for me. I'm stronger, happier and healthier than i have ever been - and its not just about exercise, its about a total mindset shift. I now understand that health is not a one-size-fits-all journey. It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin, finding balance, and making choices that sustain you for the long haul. Right now, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing what I’m meant to be doing. I’ve embraced a version of fitness that supports real-life living—not just an Instagram-perfect moment.
My mission is simple
To support you in becoming the healthiest, happiest version of yourself—whatever that looks like for you. There’s no judgment here, only encouragement. Let’s make fitness about feeling good, not just looking good.
